Credit Card Payment (VISA or Mastercard)  (top)

Users who use a credit card payment method (Visa or Mastercard) will have their cards charged during the first days of the month (normally the first). The first partial month payment is an exception. It will be charged on the next billing run after the day of signup. porchlight.ca processes billing runs early in the morning (1:00 am) on the first of each month and on every Monday.

If a user wishes to make changes to the credit card information porchlight.ca has on file, the changes must be brought to porchlight.ca's attention on or before the last day of the month. Changes made on the first of the month will not apply until the following month.

If porchlight.ca does not have valid credit card information on file or the credit card on file has expired, a user's Internet access will be deactivated after the term for which service is paid.
If when porchlight.ca applies a charge to a credit card, the charge is not authorized, the user's Internet access will be deactivated. A user can have their service reactivated by calling porchlight.ca. porchlight.ca must be able to authorize the charge to a credit card before service is reactivated.

Pre-Authorized Payment  (top)

Users who use the pre-authorized payment method (by providing a voided cheque) will have their fees charged on the first of the month, although processing may take several days. The first partial month payment is an exception. It will be charged on the next billing run after the day of signup. porchlight.ca processes billing runs early in the morning (1:00 am) on the first of each month and on every Monday. Again, although porchlight.ca may process the payment on a specific day, it may take several days before the funds are actually removed from the users' bank accounts.

porchlight.ca cannot arrange pre-authorized payments to be charged on a specific day of the month at the users request.

If a user wishes to make changes to the pre-authorized information porchlight.ca has on file, ie. the user wishes to use a different bank account, the changes must be brought to porchlight.ca's attention on or before the last day of the month. Changes made on the first of the month will not apply until the following month.

Pre-authorized payments may take several days for complete processing. ALTHOUGH PORCHLIGHT PROCESSES PRE-AUTHORIZATION PAYMENTS ON A PRESCRIBED DAY, THE FUNDS MAY NOT NECESSARILY BE DEBITED FROM THE USER'S ACCOUNT ON THAT DAY. THE PROCESSING OF THE PAYMENT MAY TAKE ONE OR MORE DAYS BEFORE THE FUNDS ARE ACTUALLY DEBITED FROM THE BANK ACCOUNT.

A user's Internet access will be deactivated after the term for which service is paid if porchlight.ca does not have valid pre-authorized payment information on file.

The user is responsible for ensuring the bank account for which funds are debited from is active, and has sufficient funds AT THE TIME THAT THE DEBIT OF THE FUNDS IS ATTEMPTED.

If payment is not collectable, the user's Internet access will be deactivated. A user can have their service reactivated by calling porchlight.ca. For service to be reactivated, the user can either:

i) charge outstanding fees to an authorized credit card
or,
ii) arrange to have the outstanding charges paid via preauthorized payment on the following billing run.

If payment is not collectable the second attempt via preauthorized payment, the user's Internet access will be deactivated once again. Then, the user can only receive Internet service by paying outstanding fees with an authorized credit card.
